Opal Puckett, 72

Opal Puckett, 73 of Elkhorn City, Ky. was born on Sept. 21, 1953 in Grundy, Va. and passed away on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025 at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Ky. She was the daughter of Andy Justus and Denny Matney Justus Vanover, who have preceded her in death. Opal was of the Regular Baptist faith and a homemaker. In addition to her parents and husband, Verlon Puckett, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dana Parks; sister, Eve Baker; brothers, Wayne, Green, Adam, and George Justus and 2 infant brothers; Junior Andy and Baby Justus; and a step-sister, Virginia Justus. Survivors are a daughter; Tina (Chris Matherly) Rasnake of Davenport, Va., sisters; Florence Price of Elkhorn City, Ky,, Leona Caudill of Jeremiah, Ky., Ruby Castle, of Belcher, Ky. and Betty Shaw of Nebraska, grandchildren; Justin Wade Rasnake and Austin Lee Rasnake, great-grandchildren; Landon Shane Rasnake, Maci Haven Rasnake and Hasiley Grace Rasnake. Visitation will be at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2025 from 6-10:00 PM with a service at 7:00. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025 at 1:00 with Jerry Overstreet and Phil Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the Elkhorn City Cemetery in Elkhorn City, Ky.
