Estel Baker; 77

Estel Baker, age 77, of Elkhorn City, passed away peacefully on September 19th, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. Born on August 13th, 1948, in Pike County, he was the son of the late Henry and Myrtle Baker. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Janice Baker, as well as his brothers: Winifred Baker, Henry Junior Baker, Lundy Baker, Charles Baker, Hershel Baker, Prater Baker, and Paul Baker, his sisters: Rhoda Jameson, Marie Anderson, and Cora Kelly.

Estel was a faithful member of Guiding Light Church and will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He had a gift for storytelling, a great sense of humor, and a smile that could light up a room. He loved good food, laughter, and most of all, spending time with his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he loved them more than anything.

He is survived by his children, Estel (Andi) Baker Jr. and Christy (Braxton) Smith; his grandchildren, Ashley (Brandon) Smith, Sarah Morton, Isaiah (Angel) Morton, Kyla Baker, Remington Baker, Tyler Hensley, and Teonna McNutt; his great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Smith, Verona Smith, Hoyt "Baker" Smith, Eli Morton, Charlie Jarrell, Franklin Jarrell, Maxwell Jarrell, Edison Jarrell, Adalyn McNutt and Ryker Sargent; and his siblings, Wanda (Curt) Hall and David (Dorothy) Baker, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. He is also survived by his devoted caregiver and best friend, Jonathan Brewer, who became like a son to him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at Guiding Light Church (664 South Patty Lovelace Drive, Elkhorn City) on Monday, September 22nd, 2025.  Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM, followed by a service of prayer, songs, and remembrance at 7:00 PM. Visiting and fellowship will continue afterward.

The family would like to thank everyone that has reached out, brought food, texted, visited, prayed or helped in any way. Estel will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his stories, laughter, and love will live on forever in our hearts.
