Roger Lee Matney, 81 of Mouthcard, KY passed away Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Pikeville Medical Center. Roger was a retired coal miner and a member of the Feds Creek Baptist Church. He was born April 12, 1944 at Lick Creek, KY to the late Leman Matney and Sadie Abshire Matney. In addition to his parents Roger was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Darnell and several brothers and sisters.

Roger is survived by his wife, Ruby Miller Matney of Mouthcard, KY; a daughter, Rachael Lynn Adkins of Pikeville, KY; grandchildren, Gregory Darnell, Blaze Adkins, and Autumn Darnell; and one great-grandchild, Maverick Darnell. Roger is also survived by two brothers, Denver Matney of Phelps and Plennie Matney of Feds Creek, KY.

Visitation will be from 6-10PM Tuesday, January 13 and Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with a service Wednesday evening at 7PM. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 2PM from the chapel with Steve Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery, Draffin, KY.
