Ray Sayers, 97 of Lick Creek, Ky. was born on September 21, 1928 at Lick Creek, Ky. and passed away on Friday, Oct. 31, 2025 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Ky. He was the son of Wesley Ballard and Lena Florence Short Sayers who have preceded him in death. Ray was a minister for 70 years and pastor of the Lick Creek Holiness Church for 66 years. He was a coal miner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esta Mae Owens Sayers; a son' Larry Vencil Sayers, a daughter, Sharon Gail Stewart; a grandson, Richard O'Brien, brothers; Charles Lee, Carl and three infant brothers, two sisters; Verneil Ruble and Ellowis Owens.

Survivors are a son; Doug (Christine) Sayers of Rutledge, Tn., a daughter; Janet (Donald) Abshire of Mouthcard, Ky., grand-children; Kristie Anders, Demetrius Abshire, Justin Sayers, step grandchildren; Austin Boggs, Logan Little and Raven Little, great grandchildren; Silas James Abshire, Parker Ray Abshire, Bethany Anders, Richard Anders and Tyler Martin and his beloved and faithful fur baby; Wilson.

Visitation will be at the Lick Creek Holiness Church on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025 after 6:00 PM with a song service at 7:00 and on Monday; Nov. 3, 2025. Officiating ministers will be Danny Hess and Gary Ratliff. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025 at 11:00 from the church. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Mouthcard, Ky.
