Makenzie Lauren Merritt Thompson, 24 of Pikeville, Ky. was born on Feb. 4, 2000 in Lexington, Ky. She was the daughter of Lee Merritt and Tara Pieczykolan. She was a graduate of East Ridge High School and attended the University of Pikeville. Survivors are her parents Lee Merritt of Elkhorn City, Ky. and her mother Tara (Mariusz) Pieczykolan of Fortson, Georgia. She was also survived by her grandfather, "Daddy" Terry Thompson, brother, Lucas Pieckykolan, aunt, Tabeth (Al) Aguilar and cousin Beto Aguilar. Makenzie was preceded in death by her beloved grandmother "Mama' Terri Thompson, paternal grandfather, Bobby Merritt, paternal great-grandparents, Ernest & Bee Mullins and Mable and Robert Merritt. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel from 6:00-10:00 PM. Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, December 23 at 2:30 PM in the chapel with Tommy Taulbee officiating Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery in Pikeville, Ky.
