Jerry Dale Abshire, 73 of Raccoon, KY passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026 at Pikeville Medical Center. Jerry was a Federal Mine Inspector, a member of the Connection Church and a U.S. Army Veteran. Jerry was born March 16, 1953 at Fedscreek, KY to the late Kermit Abshire and Ovaleen Casey Abshire Sawyers. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by brothers, Danny, Randy and Donnie Abshire and sisters,  Elva Dotson and Ernie Gale Abshire.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Wilda Faye Chaney Abshire of Raccoon, KY; a son, Jerry Dale Abshire, II of Chuckey, TN; two daughters, Marcella (Jeff Carroll) Sincell of Belcher, KY and Holly Abshire of Raccoon, KY; honorary son, Joseph "Joey" Adkins of Pikeville, KY; and three grandchildren, Kenneth Dalton Potter, Cash Ryker Collins and Jackson LaRue Collins. He is also survived by two brothers, Ronnie Abshire of Haysi, VA and Gary Randall Abshire of Elkhorn City, KY.

Visitation will be from 6-10PM Friday, May 22, 2026 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will conducted Saturday, May 23, 2026 at 1PM from the chapel with Richard Holmes officiating. A miltiary service will be conducted by the Elkhorn City DAV Chapter #140.
