Goebel Steven Sweeney, 65 of Elkhorn City, KY passed away Sunday, September 28, 2025 at Pikeville Medical Center. Steven was born February 16, 1960 to the late Goebel Swiney and Mary Vivian Puckett Swiney. In addition to his parents, Goebel was preceded in death by a brother, James Allen Sweeney. He was retired mechanic with KY Power and a US Army Veteran.

Goebel is survived by his wife, Gloria May Sweeney of Elkhorn City, KY; two daughters, Stephanie (Jason) Helvey of Elkhorn City, KY and Lorie (Chris) Adkins of Georgetown, KY; and grandchildren, Isabella Helvey, Lucas Helvey, Connor Adkins and Benjamin Adkins.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 02, 2025 at 7PM with visitation from 5-PM at the Faith First Baptist Church with Randy Bentley and Jim Ed Belcher officiating. Military rites will be conducted at 5PM by the Elkhorn City DAV Chapter #140.
