Obituary

Effie Mae Christian Raines, 88 of Breaks, Va. was born on December 22, 1935 in Grundy, Va. and passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024 at her home. She was the daughter of the Robert and Carrie Lester Christian who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Little Josie Regular Baptist Church and the owner of Mt. Crafts Company. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Roby Raines, a grandchild; LeAnne Dawson, brothers; Harvey, Willy, Roy and Laurence Christian, and a sister; Mary Christian. Effie is survived by a son; Mark (Peggy) Raines of the Breaks, Va., daughters; Sherry Marie (Philip) Willis of Breaks, Va., and Cathy Lynn (Ronald) Keen of Breaks, Va., 3 granddaughters; Tonya Dawson of Hendersonville, Tn.,, Angel Belcher of Breaks, Va., and Carrie (Nathan) Russel of Blue Ridge, Va., grandsons; Cory Whitehead of Robinson Creek, Ky., Harrison and Cassie Whitehead of Pikeville, Ky., great-granddaughters; Ava Fowler Allen, Nadia Dawson, Ivana Dawson, Autumn and Presley Russel, great-grandsons; Daylen Whitehead, Logan Belcher, Rylan, Decklan, Kalix, Brayson and Kashton Whitehead. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 2, 2024 after 6:00 PM in the Little Josie Regular Baptist Church in Breaks, Va. Services at 7:00 nightly with Jerry Overstreet, Jimmy Dale Sanders, Carson Wright, Teddy Honaker, Toy Looney, Larry Puckett and Roger Coleman officiating. Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, 11:00 from the church. Burial will follow in the Raines Family Cemetery in Breaks, Va.
