Cassie Sawyers Ramey Hagerman, 97 of Little Beaver, Elkhorn City, KY was born on November 25, 1928 at Lick Creek, KY to the late John D. and Anna Abshire Sawyers. Cassie passed from this life, Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at her residence. She was comforted by many loving friends, caregivers, and relatives. 

She is survived by one son, Jeffery D. (Roberta/Bobbie) Ramey of Ashcamp, KY, one step-son, Randy (Pam) Baker of Wise, VA, grandchildren, Rebecca Ramey, Chloe Baker and Rhiannon Baker; and great-grandchildren, Alton Fuller, Hunter Williams, Jacob Williams and Lukas Newsome. Cassie is also survived by a sister, Marcia Sawyers Ratliff of Belcher, KY and a host of nieces, nephews, and loving friends and neighbors.

Cassie is preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Ray Ramey, and her late husband, Howard "Johnny" Hagerman; brothers, Ferro, James Vaughn, Phillip Reed, Merrill and Denton Sawyers and sisters, Holly Belle Williams, Grace Ramey, June Blackburn and Lynette Case.

Cassie was a dedicated and beloved teacher and educator. She began her teaching career in a small, a one room school setting and finished as an elementary teacher who taught first-grade. 

Her first love was serving the Lord. Cassie was a devout Christian and a faithful member of the Ferrells Creek Church of Christ, which she called "home." In her later years, she also attended the Phyllis Church of Christ.

Visitation will be from 6-10PM Friday, May 29, 2026 at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with a service at 7PM. The funeral servcies will be conducted Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 1PM from the chapel with Rusty Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.
